 Yama Wolf Pack Information and Recruitment
« Thread Started on Aug 23, 2007, 11:02pm »

=========== General Information ===========

Name: Yama
Type: Wolf Pack
Clan History: Developed centuries ago, Yama was a wolf pack started by large wolves- measuring nearly four to five feet at shoulder height- who lived in hostile, icy environments. They possessed some magic-type powers, mostly gained by the attributes implanted within their DNA, but grew to be strictly ice and snow based with exposure to the climate and natural selection. Their fur was bred to be white to blend within the snow, and their fur thick. Icicles jutted from their bodies’ by their fur freezing over as sort of weapons- the ice is unable to be melted, due to the magic within their blood. Their claws faded from black to almost clear, and they became cold to the touch. Most of these attributes were simply to mark them as part of the pack, as no other appeared like them. The name was given to them by the mountains that surrounded their territory and protected them from any threats to their living. Time passed, and their appearance was perfected by breeding and sorts of spells. Later, though, humans discovered their whereabouts. It wasn’t too much of a problem; however, as they mostly negotiated for blood pacts. So, from wild wolves just trying to survive, their new purpose was to breed stronger and faster members of their pack to serve others wanting to summon them. They take no sides; they are sort of ‘for hire’. Loyalties to each other remain, and it is made clear that they will not fight each other if recruited to opposite sides.

Other Info

  • There are about fifty wolves in the pack.
  • Normally higher ranked positions are gained by family background- ie. Father as leader most likely will pass down leadership to son. This rule can be changed if one member proves them self a good candidate.
  • The territory ranges for about one-hundred square miles. The tundra they inhabit is not very populated.
  • Their main prey is caribou- abnormally large-, and in times of need, smaller prey such as lemming and hares are hunted.
  • They are very loyal to one another, and they prefer to hunt and fight in groups.
  • Their rivals are all Tree Wolf Clans and some other Ice Wolf Clans.
  • Most wolves are bred to fight and to be summoned by a human companion one day.

=========== Clan’s Inherited Traits ===========

  • All wolves’ in the pack body temperature is below the normal one-hundred degrees Fahrenheit temperature, but Thirty-two degrees Fahrenheit, freezing point, to again mark their differences from others of their kind.

  • When out of their snowy territory, the ground they walk on freezes in their tracks.

  • All wolves are white in color; eyes blue. Some have darker blue marking to distinguish them, and most have icicle-like appendages on their necks or tails.

Attacks~

General Attacking

User attacks using claws and teeth, both are made signature to pack by the icy effect the crystalline appendages have.

Ice Breath

The air user breaths out is cooled in the trachea and is exhaled in ice form. This is capable of freezing opponents in extended contact and other uses such as creating barriers and other structures. Another form of this is the moisture in the breath is frozen, and more damaging icicles are shot from the mouth of the user.

Snow Stealth

The user gains speed in frigid environments, and the wolf becomes nearly invisible to the eye because of the collection of snow near the user’s body and their already white coat.

Icicle Attacks

The icicle mane of the wolf extends to a deadly point, mostly used for intimidation and defense. The tail’s icy exterior can harden and sharpen to use as a weapon as well, and the claws can be frozen over more for extra damage. This can only be used in temperatures at freezing level, which is why assistance from the summoner to create a more chill climate.

=========== Pack Hierarchy ===========

Alphas- the alpha male and female. These two lead the pack, where they move in the territory, organizing hunting groups and times, and remarking scent borders. They provide the next male alpha if no other member of the pack shows promise. They are highly respected and are often not tried to be overthrown.

Beta- the wolf- or sometimes wolves- that is the second in command. They watch the pups while other members of the pack hunts and if an alpha is unable to perform their duties, this member of the pack will step of either temporarily or permanently. This is a title often occupied by the alphas’ son or daughter- same circumstances. This is a title and in no way does in ensure they will be the next leader.

Hunters- while all members of the pack hunt, these wolves show promise from birth to be fast on their feet. These wolves are often cunning, stealthy, and are excellent team players. They hunt most of the prey for the pack in good time. These wolves usually are not as proficient with their ice techniques and use their teeth and claws more often.

Fighters- while all members of the pack fight as well during attacks, these wolves show promise to be especially strong whether it be in muscle or natural ability in their powers. They are physically strong and trained for endurance. They fight off the pack’s enemies.

Females- These are young female wolves that are able to breed or are watching after or expecting their own pups. Males from either class- hunters or fighters- often compete for their attention during the fall. They can be fighters or hunters as well.

Elders- These wolves are too old to perform their duties any longer. Sometimes, they are killed off if times are too needy, but mostly, there are only a few at a time, providing advice on personal and pack-type duties. They are well respected as well, but they have no control over the pack.

Pups- These are young wolves. They are too young to perform any pack duties, but they are sometimes trained to use their abilities and to fight when they are of age. Mostly, they are dependent on older members for food and care. They stay in the pack’s resting area and play with each other, watched by the Beta and other members offering to stay behind.

Omega- The lowest ranked member of the pack. This is often an especially weak wolf, too old to be a pup, too young to be an elder. They are thought of as the lowest of them, and they are often picked on by other wolves. They eat last and stay behind the pack when they move.

=========== Current Mini-Plot ===========

(Open for changing or suggestions)

The current alpha male of the Yama Wolf Pack has six children- three males, three females. One male is more docile, and less strong, and took on the position of a hunter. The three females are also less aggressive, unlikely for the leadership. Two brothers are more aggressive, competing constantly to achieve the rank. One is more carefree while the other shows malevolent behavior, and the other five siblings suspect him of wanting to overtake the pack and lead it to its demise by attacking other packs for more territory. Meanwhile, other males in the pack grow more ambitious against the group of siblings to gain more favor to possibly gain the role as alpha.
The current alpha male is growing older, and his resignation may be soon. It is a time in the pack for all the males to show their worth and strength to lead. Afterwards, they must choose a female to take lead as well.
Will someone of noble intentions gain the role or will more ambitious young wolves lead the pack to its downfall or perhaps more power?
